When She Dreams

When she dreams/ with Jennifer Noble (It was a) different time... a different world Long ago she learned that.. trust can turn (Everyone said) such a pretty girl... Her porcelain skin so soft and new... but...no one had a clue Chorus She still hides from the danger and when she dreams she's far away... In her mind...she's living in a better place No one can take- take away Broken bags-treasures saved I rushed on by but, could not look away I could not breathe- so surprised saw my reflection-in the stories in her eyes...and...I saw her shine Chorus 2 She still hides from all the danger and when she dreams she's far away... WoW! John, You have penned such sad and heartfelt lyrics. Although the scenarios may differ, abuse is universal. Many women ( anyone) who have suffered from the pain of abuse can relate to these touching lyrics.PS, Thanks for info regarding the inspiration for the song.This is going straight into my favs. Well done:-) Alexis

Your song is so sad, but beautiful.. We couldn't imagine how much they suffer in those camps..Even animals may get ashamed of some.. Thank you for sharing..

Wow John... this could be me...if it were not for poetry no one would know my pain...i am a listener in life, a shoulder for others because i won't share my secrets, people around me don't know i write poetry, they don't know what lurks inside, i cannot see beauty in the mirror but can see the beauty of the world around me and in others.. but i am strong enough to endure what i keep inside, strong enough to battle all my demons because i have had to fight to survive all my life...

Thanks Sandra, I knew you could relate to this one. I actually wrote it for the Yazidi women who were brutalized by Isis, most were killed but some escaped to Canada and told their story. Sad sad world, but it will get better soon!
