When Love Chose Me

When love chose me, I was powerless to disobey. It beckoned me to follow, Though my steps would be in darkness. I did not know its treacherous path, The mountain I would climb. Scaling past the stormy clouds, To see clearly from its summit, the horizon. When love chose me, I stood by a wild river. I knew that I must cross, Knowing I could be swept away, And lose myself forever. But, I could not refuse my fate. At last to reach the other side. I could see the bank that I had been, barren. When love chose me, I was surviving in an oasis, Surrounded by vast desert sand, It called to me with its sweet song, And my heart could not resist. I faced my fear of hunger and thirst, And the burning heat upon my flesh. And I found the cool green meadow, abundance.
