When It Comes My Time

When it comes my time Please don't cry Celebrate the life I had Just say goodbye.. If I linger on Give me the right to choose An artificial life Would give me the blues. Don't interfere, just let me be I have the right to die with dignity To leave my loved ones would be a curse To be their burden would be much worse. If you believe in the Father, Holy Spirit and Son Then you know my journey has just begun Let me be on my way, just hold my hand As I start my trip to the Promised Land. When it comes my time Please don't cry Celebrate the life I had Just say goodbye. I believe each of us have the right to die with grace and dignity without interference from government or any other bureaucratic agency.

My father-in-law passed away back in April. He didn't want a funeral. He wanted a celebration. His celebration of life was held at the country club where he played golf. There was food, music, jokes, laughter, and lots of fond memories. I told my wife, "When my time comes, that's the way I want to be remembered". Nicely written. Congrats on your featured writing!...Milt

Another fine write from you, Vince. I always look forward to reading your stuff. As for your views on the last hours, I totally agree. I don't want people to hear the same old tear-jerking music and shed the usual flood. Congrats on the selection. Love, daver
