When I Was a Kid
Sometimes I try to remember back when I was a kid
And the things we did
Like climbing up forty feet in a pine cone tree
Feeling feel as a bird
Pretending we couldn’t hear being called and
Our mother would get so mad that she was not heard
We had five and a half acres of land
There were thousands of dirt roads
With many grains of sand
We had so much time on our hands
Some days we would lay in the sun to get a tan
Or go running through the sprinklers
In our swim suites
Yes that’s the kind of things we would do
It sure has been many years since then
But every now and than
I stop to think of the fun we would have
How we annoyed mom and dad
Like when we would jump off the ten
Foot trailer and pretend we could fly
Or when we were sad,
How our dog would be by our side,
Yes I remember the good and the bad
From all those years long ago
Sometimes they are a little vivid
But I will never forget what
life was like then when I was kid
