When I Lay

When I lay down, you know. You know the turning of my head and the way my spin sets into the humble ground. My feet kicked up so high, the clouds feel close. They climb higher to the cold air. But I am not like them. My mind knows no boundaries. It is free like the warm wind that tickles my toes ever so gently. And because you know me, you send me gifts of sunny days and rainbow sunsets. My pockets filled with stories and memories Lasting longer then the forever green Juni trees. Your sunrises embrace me. Coating the world in the silent wisps of light. And since you know me, I have learned the songs of the birds and trees, And the secrets of the water streams. But even on the coldest nights you care for me, Singing me softly to sleep.
