When I Am Old
When I am old I want to dance aglow
With the music coming from the radio
The steps we take may be only a few
But, the"Tennessee Waltz" I'll dance with you--
Hold me close so I can feel your presence
Swaying together e'en when out of breath
When I am old I would like to discuss
All things, anything that brings joy to us
Perhaps we'll see a crowd of daffodils
In our mind's eye or on the hill for real
There may be a shepherd and flock of sheep
Crossing a flowing stream from hill so steep
When I am old I want to hear laughter,
You will enjoy my words as I do yours
Building new memories that will endure
Whether writing words or painting pictures --
To have these simple things I'd be so blessed
Because within my shell lies happiness
