When Darkness Comes
Darkness made its bid to spread
The demon raised its ugly head
Everywhere I heard such dread
“We’ve got you now”, the demon said
Dark and ugly, full of lies
Flying through the dirty skies
All it wants to do is kill
Following its master’s will
Don’t listen to his nasty voice
You have a better, purer choice
“We’ve got you now” is just a lie
That many just believe and die
With fear he came with blackened day
To interrupt what good folks say
“Take this disease. You’ll die for sure”
“You are no good and never were”
His lies they permeate the air
You will hear them almost everywhere
“I’ve got you now; you can’t go on”
“This battle I have surely won”
Sick I felt, depressed at best
But inside I knew that I was blessed
With power to walk above the din
Of darkest power that works in sin
Then Words I leveled to the dark
Shook the demon, hit the mark
“We’ve got you now”, it lied again
It hurled its fear to try to win
“Out with you in Jesus’ name”
“I won’t believe your lying game”
Darkness shook and cowered down
Ignoring that he’d heard the sound
Resisting him I took my stand
He played his cards; I won the hand
Away he flew into the night
He couldn’t stand against the light
Defeated foe he came once more
He hoped to find an open door
And hiding out spoke words of dread
“I’ve got you now”; I raised my head
“Out with you in Jesus’ name”
In anger once again he fled; he lost his game
So when the enemy comes knocking, knocking at your door
Don’t let him in, don’t fear and don’t believe him any more
Resist him in the name of Jesus and send him on his way
We don’t have to fear the darkness, and never, ever let him stay
He will come to you with words of fear
“I’ve got you now” is what you’ll hear
