When All Was Said and Done

When all was said and done, Who was there? A gleaming friend in the nights of sorrow And in the depths of despair? Did you know what you were doing As you took each sip? Did you know what you were doing As through your fingers your life slipped? Was the blade your only final friend? Did you think it would be easier to make it all end? You chose death over us, You chose death over another try. Those thoughts really make me question why. It wasn’t over; You had so much more to give. So many more lessons to teach, So many more moments to live. I know your heart was broken, But did you even consider All the words you left unspoken? There are so many things I wish I could ask, So many questions I would like answers to. But you took the permanent solution To a temporary problem, So I guess my thoughts will just have to do.
