What's In a Name

How would God feel if He told you His name, And you exchanged it for titles, of it you felt shame. From Genesis through Revelation it’s been pronounced Some seven thousand times with His righteousness announced. His son Jesus, made use of His name; To Him he gave glory, as that’s why he came. His Father, Jehovah, is so proud of him. He prayed that God's name be made holy again. The first Christians followed just what the Son taught And spread the good news of Jehovah their God. Then came imposters who deleted God's name; They removed the tetragramaton and did God defame. Sadly, till now false teachers abound And spread confusion in their throngs all around. It hurts God so, to see them berate His loyal love and the sacrifice He made. Soon comes the time when everyone will see The magnificient meaning of God's sovereignty. So, all you people who call on God's name, It’s Jehovah or Yahweh, one and the same. (Psalm 83:18) (revised poem)
