What's a Puppet To Do

What’s A Puppet To Do Puppets get their calories from trees They start in forest as a twig Carved out of wood and painted Everything is tied up in the strings Pulled this way and that Lost without the manipulator touch Marionettes are full of fluffy stuffing Yet still hunger for their freedom When the economy becomes a comedy No one laughs Puppets never stop They dance What’s a puppet to do without his strings? It sings about swinging in the trees Free as a twig for John Lawless -"Puppets" - Poetry contest - entered on 12/16/14
