What Would Her Life Be

I wonder what her life would be… If she didn’t curse and scream If she encouraged just one dream If she felt she was on her team If she wasn’t so damn mean... If she didn’t abuse her If she didn’t confuse her If she didn’t mistreat her If she didn’t constantly beat her If she said she loved her If she hugged her If she placed no one above her... If she gave her a choice If she heard her voice If she paid attention If only she would have listened... She would have shared If only her mother cared Lay

That little word, "IF"..is so convicting, Lay! As mothers we have a huge responsiblity, molding our children, especially our girls as they will inherit tomorrow. I always love your poems relating to life. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Lay. I pray that God grants you all the happiness, peace and joy you deserve, girl! Love, Audrey

Hi Rob, You hit the nail on the head with your comment again. I desire the answer to the question "why" each day. Why harm a child? Why repeat the cycle of abuse? I understand that people are a reflection of the experiences and environment they are raised in however; we also have the ability to change. At some point we realize the errors of our ways or of our past. We are exposed to better things yet some choose to look the other way and not change. This I don't quite understand; not yet...Lay

a universal phenomenon whether real or imagined. A part of the human tradgedy but not that simple. Many sides and many reasons are there not? If we are lucky we will live and continue to learn why; not just if only ;until we grow in wisdom and old age. Gordon Lightfoot the poet and folk singer said in one of his songs "and he who is wise will not criticize when other men fail at the game" extremely hard to do but very wise indeed. I'll let you know when I finally succeed at that!
