What Now
The hoopla now gone, and promises made
Champagne’s been drunk, and gatherings done.
The only bubbles left are in my head
A good night’s sleep will cure all of the fun.
I’ll repair my body, and cleanse my soul
Put away the failure of goals not attained.
Don my thinking cap, go out for a stroll
I will not let my final years be stained.
I refuse to let my days be filled with dread
Face them with courage, for changes will peak.
Now dawns a new journey, new path ahead
How could I think my future was bleak?
A year of poetry, and friends has flown,
But with the new year, I’ll n’er be alone!
