What Is Poetry?

What is poetry? Poetry is beauty. In everything there is beauty, In everything there is poetry. Poetry is the ultimate expression For that which cannot otherwise be expressed. You can't paint it, you can't play it, you can't take a picture of it. But you can feel it. In poetry, all things can be expressed, Therefore all things can be felt. The deepest sadness, or the greatest joy, It can all be felt. You can speak of love so true that it warms the heart Of even the cruelest, most unfeeling sinner alive. You can tell of a loss so agonizingly painful It would make the devil himself weep. You can make others feel what you feel so deeply That it makes it seem as if the sun were rising backwards from the twilight, Or that time itself had reversed, Or that even the earth had ceased it turning, And all that was left was that feeling. What is poetry? Poetry is the words that you could never find, even at the best of times. Poetry is that one feeling so deep in your heart, that it seems almost your soul. In everyone, that feeling is different. In each one of us, our soul is unique, Uninfluenced by anything else... What is that feeling?
