What I Know
Many years ago, segregation was profoundly shaken
Thus disallowing our African slaves to be taken
They were even locked away in caves
And sold to the man to be used as slaves
They weren’t even allowed in the big city parks
And you know what would of happen if they were caught out after dark
The slave masters would rape and sleep with our women
They was even made them raise their slave master’s children
Because they didn’t want us to be able to lead
And that’s why they couldn’t go to the libraries to learn to read
Although that didn’t stop our people from being educated
I think that we are one of the best races that were created
These are my feelings and what I believe
And that is one of the reason’s I like to read
So that I can learn about the history of my race
Because we did contribute to this great place
That god created for each and every one of us
Because I am tired of listening to all the fuss
About which race is better than the other
But then they turn around and call our men their brother
