Wednesday

Wednesday They say today is Wednesday but how do we really know Perhaps somebody lost a day some time long ago Maybe it’s a Thursday or Friday, who’s to say Before there was a calendar, what did they call each day And who decided seven days, not six or maybe eight Would constitute a full week and what was that first date Maybe once a Roman or it might have been a Greek Forgot to write the day down and screwed it up one week So maybe it’s not Wednesday if you go back far enough And maybe you’re now sorry that I thought of all this stuff

Not at all sorry, Mike. Enjoyed your musings immensely....Here's the scoop on 'Wednesday,' which we pronounce wrong today... In ancient Israel, marriages were on Wednesday evening. Why? --Because courts convened in every town on Thursdays. So, if the man found his bride to be, ahem, previously sullied, he walked her and his soon-to-be-ex father-in-law right into court, demanding a divorce. And he normally got it. Ha-ha: In those days the proof was in the pudding so to speak...That's the scoop! ~ gw
