We Were Young
WE WERE YOUNG
© Gabriel Magno 2019
We were young we were strong
we could never do wrong
we had visions of greatness and fame
if we failed we had someone to blame
we climbed mountains and dove in the seas
we were tough and could do all with ease
we made money and bought many toys
all grown up we were men now not boys
pain was something we all could endure
through the perils of life we would sail
it was meant that we are now mature
never thought for a moment we’d fail
then the years passed which taught us to face
that we all must accept our own fate
now we know we don’t win every race
to go back in time now is too late
we reached for the stars but time had expired
we did all the things we thought were required
young and strong we soon found would not last
now we dream of those days that have passed
