We Can Stand
8 syllables per line
The sapphire sky is fully clear
Not a cloud is found far or near
Cool November air is now here
My dog runs in leaves everywhere
Blowing around, in such delight
I stood watching in sun so bright
The seasons turn over the leaves
Like pages of a book that weave
Chapters together old and new
Story of life to continue
In our homes as we watch the news
Not wanting to be what we see
Hope to see things differently
All we can do is be a part
Making difference, a new start
By reaching out with helping hands
A better person we can stand
Together in unity now
We can get through all this somehow
