We and Our Countries
To Paul Gilbert from Canada
Many majestic woods and flowing rivers
are in Russia and Canada.
Many blue lakes and flower glades
are In Russia and Canada.
Both these countries have snowy winters
And fine autumns
with multi-coloured hairs
And with golden maple leaves
on water of the city ponds and rivers.
We are the Canadian and Russian poets.
We translate force of love,
sincerity of our feelings,
our ideas, beauty of the nature,
and understanding of the world around of us
Into language of poetry.
Certainly, Canada and Russia are
Very different countries.
But I think, their souls are very much the same –
like souls of the Canadian and Russian poets –
As our souls, dear Paul!
