There is a patch of light That the curtains have permitted to enter It looks like a sailboat on the wall Right now I can't figure out How light fills a room Or appears as a distinct shape But here I am Experienced enough looking at this To know this image will shift and change It's already occurring Becoming a Picasso like profile Or the teeth of a shark I'm lay here, before everyone else wakes The dog granted a morning snuggle at my feet Seeing what appears in front of me It's now a blade so well used it's fractured It pulsates slightly I presume in time with the slightest breeze That catches the curtain or the source The stick which held aloft this ragged flag Becomes molten metal as I watch Fascinating how the solid can drip away And now it's altogether new For there's a cherry on top That becomes the flame of a candle The Picasso profile now merely candle wax Which collected on one side Due to an almost imperceptible tilt The glow of the flame is where I leave it For the house is waking up And so am I
