Watching the Geese In Flight

In the blue sky of sunshine There are white patches of clouds Joining them is a flock of geese Flying in a V formation, honking As they pass by my house How do they stay as one Without bumping into each other Flying evenly together Without losing their rhythm? It does fascinate me As I watch them flying by I notice their southern pass To somewhere very warm Water blue, grass is green Spending their winter there I go to the window and look to the sky To watch all the action that is taking place Until they have passed on their way Then I go on with my work Happy that I have seen their flight

Yes..yes...yes!!! I am always amazed at their flight over our little town. Sometimes they will come down to rest at one of the ponds nearby. You captured their migration in words.

I loved this because of the picture it created in my mind. Where I live we don't see this often but I have when traveling north and it is a wonderful show to see. Really nice Darlene.

Hi Darlene, Love the poem. An image so common this time of year. I wrote a poem entitled Canadian Grays. There is something about them that catches you and makes you want to write. Just because I'm a nerd I heard once that they "think" it is magnetite in their brains (if I recall correctly) that allows them to fly in that formation. Again, a lovely poem. All the best to you and your writing! JP the nerd...
