Watching Terns

From boat's mass thrown up Wings fondling light and wonder The fish shudders awe I caught in splendour Net my eyes in white of wings And sea frightened thawed So water rippled The sea in sunshine trembling Against departure They turned, flashed in dive The sun made coronet bright On feathers waving True there was a cry In self praise for pain un-groaned Just for Leda's sake.
