Watching From a Distance

I’m watching from a distance As my mom loses her mind My feet cemented to the ground, I won’t get there in time. Her piercing screams and cries Reverberate in my brain, I fear she will hurt herself To alleviate her pain. I see her struggle to stand And she spits at any help, But when she falls down again She blames the cards she was dealt. I reach my arms out front Grabbing at the air, I just wish I could reach my mom And tell her that I’m there.

This is so sad! Powerfully, tenderly penned. Sadly, I can relate. Hugs. xomo
