What should Putin do about the war in Ukraine? Learn from Lenin ...

“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” ? Albert Einstein
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
metal helmets, rimmed view in the brick jungle rockets rape buildings to the ground, skeletons remain standing with beds and baths exposed, flames licking the edges of humanity WAR. WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? wander down the road and see the bodies strewn and mangled, hear sobbing mothers and sisters and scattered gunfire, see how fragments of steel shred flesh and pour blood into streets WAR. WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? see the profits made selling death see the greatness of our bullets and bombs see the collective egos of mankind see them pursuing power, money, and greed WORLD WITHOUT WAR. WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? see a world with diminished egos see the need for controlling people and land vanquished see compassion on the rise see us pursuing peace, not pride
You have uniquely approached the subject. So true, if we used atomic bombs and missiles in the Second World War, we would have to use bow and arrow in the Third! "wander down the road and see the bodies strewn and mangled, hear sobbing mothers and sisters and scattered gunfire, see how fragments of steel shred flesh and pour blood into streets" What a fierce scene you have painted, dear Sara. This is not an exaggerated picture, but a realistic one. Still, we don't have eyes to see. War brings such untold miseries to mankind. Great entry in the contest. All the Best dear Sara
Oh i love your use of albert einstein, i recently watched this docudrama based on his sayings and his life back then, was so interesting. I learnt so much which i didnt about him, its on netflix, not sure if youv seen it, please do check it out might be interesting for you. “ see the greatness of our bullets and bombs see the collective egos of mankind” what a powerful line that is and so true, and its strange how in the docudrama he shows hiw bombs were first created! Shocking! This is impeccable
Hi Sara; vivid, gut-wrenching~ but true! Sick, twisted politicians start them -- but the armies are people. People must say no. Refuse. Wars cannot be fought without capitulation. Put in prison...executed -- at the least having died for a just cause. I will fight a just war, only when my general leads, and his (her) children are out in-front alongside.
Sara, your poem is truly powerful and skillfully crafted. I particularly appreciate the inclusion of the Einstein quote. Your poem is structured into four distinct stanzas, each serving a specific purpose. The first stanza vividly depicts the destructive nature of humanity, while the second explores the devastating impact on our planet. The third stanza delves into the motives of war profiteers, and the final stanza offers a poignant reflection on the potential for peace and harmony. Your writing is impactful and emotive, with a compelling conclusion that emphasizes the importance of compassion over conflict.
Haunting images of war--a powerful write, Sara, conveyed with intensity. I like the turn in the ending of the poem-- Peace and compassion always over indignity and pain of war.
I pray that one day we will feel no need for war, and pride will be a thing of the past. is it really Albert Einstein who said that, or is it your quote ? may I use it to work around it, for a different kind of poem. would you mind ? Love, Vie
