Wanda Woman

She takes her wand a sugar cane long And waves it in the air singing a song She likes to make her heroic cape From collard green leaves that she crochet She makes her brazier from coconuts With licorice straps sticky to touch Her bald head blessed with a crown from grapevines with grapes hanging down Her skin is thin from all the chemo She is stronger than superman in her soul-food soul She uses cotton candy to make her socks Shoes so fancy by Goldilocks Bet you never again will see A skirt made of dried fruit candy Yellow sun rays shine on her face Fighting cancer with food in more than one way. 6/14/22 Written for A MERGER WITH FOOD POETRY CONTEST Sponsor Natasha L Scragg

Hi Karen, I really loved this poem A cancer-fighting call Of calm and cool precision And sunlight most of all A cancer-fighting formula Of things we ought to wear Of Wanda Woman miracles You joyfully prepare The collard greens that you crochet The cotton-candy socks The dried-fruit disposition That you share with Goldilocks The cape and all the coconuts You need to feed your soul Will crown you like the condiments That keep you in control. Yes my auntie Wanda beat cancer but just couldn't beat covid. She was a clever software engineer who passed last January. She would be on her work pc at the hospital during chemo. Thank u for your kind words and for getting this poem. Hugs

Never say never! Look at the price of paper dresses on Antique Roadshow! Did you read about the 100% cancer cure of all participants a the study? Hippocrates said there is no illness which can not be cured by food, so you are spot on for a winner! Aloha!
