Walls of Expectations
She was trapped within the walls of expectations
Being who she was thought to be
Daddy's little girl his perfect angel
The teachers pet
Always the good girl
Straight laced
Hair in place
On the fast track to nowhere
Leading the race
Friends looked up to her
Popular with all
Her every move a picture
She looked like a doll
If image is everything
She was living the dream
Yet Inside she just wanted to scream
She ran away to a far off place
Claiming herself within her own space
Exploring beyond the walls
Making mistakes
The new her not fake
Dormant self awake
Vibrant
Free
Solving her own mystery
Understanding her history
Every piece a part of her
Past and present begin to blur
Comfortable now in her own skin
Her mind is free the girl has wings
She looks down from the mountain top
No longer scared
She will not stop
No going back to yesterday
She has found a better way
Dedicated to SKAT
Inspired by her poem "MoUNTAN DRoP"
