Walking the Mall
Walking the mall on a Sunday afternoon,
sidewalk sales entice the crowds
looking for bargains on their tight budgets,
couples in love holding hands,
shopping together and dreaming of new furniture,
sounds of crying children in rented strollers
echoing throughout the mall
while stoic mothers push them
from one shop to another,
among the busy shoppers are the single
and lonely people who walk the mall,
looking for discounts among the scratched
and dented sections of broken hearts.
