Walking the Deck
Walking the deck for you
I noticed the wood beneath my feet
old boards
I stretch myself
as far as the horizon
Trying to expand myself for you
You ask so much of me
You push my boundaries beyond my boundaries
You demand on command
of me as if I were a child
Yes,do .... stretch me and decrease me by making me thin
I am trying to be bold in your presence
Trying to remember where I came from
and all that I believe in -for you
I will serve you like a slave
I will work for you like a child slave because I love you
The only light I know is the light I've seen
Driving through Forest of Bent trees where the sand and the wind have altered all to be so unusual and exquisite
I can't stop thinking of wind altering trees
In the light ....of nature
so bent by wind and storm
I'm humbled
lifted and joyful
amazed
and here nothing you do to me
will ever stop my... being happy
You may be cruel but I will be bigger
a lioness of bent branches rising to the sky
roaring past you
You may think You are bold in your cruelness
You think ownership of me gives you the right?
But I have the forest and I have the fluorescent red berries
that he fought to retrieve for me
and I will never forget what it is to be out here
in air and sky and feel sand fall through my fingers
A free child just enjoying the beauty of the world around me
Gathering up bright berries of color to deck my halls
I remember that nature and life can be turned simple
by a tree
engaged by a leaf
romanced by a puddle
spoken to by breeze
All you have to really do is go out there and gather up
what is offered
Given without price
