Walking

I walk like a New Yorker At a swift and steady pace. In other towns, my gait might seem A little out of place. New Yorkers never saunter, Rarely ramble, hardly stroll For on city streets, such movement Would quite quickly take its toll. So when out-of-towners visit, You can spot them right away As they amble down the sidewalk, Thinking such a thing’s okay. It might be just fine in places Where the pace of life is slow But a genuine New Yorker Needs to go-go-go-go-GO!

Yes - NY is a fast moving town! You tell the tale well in your poem. I had a poem in the September 12th Metropolitan Diary of the NY Times. You may want to look it up. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

This had me smiling Ilene because it is so true! Saunter down a busy Blvd and you will get run over or pushed aside into the crowd. Reminded me of my New York layovers long ago. I enjoyed this so much. 7 ; )

Very funny as usual, Ilene. I've been to NY many times, way too fast for me! I never could figure out what all the excitement was about. Down here in the south, we're lucky if we get off the porch:)
