Waking Up On the Street,

Waking up on the street. Oh my stomach hurts! What's that smell? What time is it? Where am I? Should I get up? Who cares anyway? What can I eat? Where can I go? Sir can you help me? Why do you look at me like that? Oh! That smell is me! Yuck! Who cares anyway? Oh my back hurts! Can I get up? Let me try! Why bother! There's no hope! Who cares anyway? Oh! Thank you sir you are so kind! What?? Get away from me!! I'm just a kid!!! Who cares anyway? I need a shower Where can I go? Maybe the shelter... What! No more room!! Please let me stay! It's cold outside! What? Get away from me!! I'm just a kid! Who cares anyway? I need to sleep! No I just got up There's a nice man! Sir can you help me! I'm hungry! What!! You have a place for me!! I have to do what!! Get away from me!! I'm just a kid! Who cares anyway? I'm so hungry!! Hi Mom! Can you come and get me? Oh no! Leave a message after the tone! Hi Mom can you come and get me! Wait! Where am I? I don't know where I am! Who cares anyway? Oh my stomach hurts! What is that smell? What time is it? Where am I? Who cares anyway? I need to sleep no I just woke up!! Sir can you help me?... John Derek Hamilton February 16,2016

oh... John... I sense the confusion and the fear... I love the repetition of, "who cares anyway" ? That is a good question. And the hard-hitting "get away from me, I'm just a kid" Oh so sad the things that the homeless must endure. well done, friend.
