Waiting For the Other Shoe

I'm a nervous Nellie with good reasons you see. Many a time I've had the rug pulled out from under me.. There are quiet stretches where I attempt to heal and everything is co-pathetic, at an even keel.. Abruptly the rains come down and it's never just a spittle. It's often like the sky is falling and I'm poor Chicken Little.. If I only knew my future I could tweak the plot, then I could stop waiting for the other shoe to drop..

I like the use of well-worn sayings in this work of yours. Usually, those sayings would not work very well because of them being constantly used in our everyday language but they are perfect here. If for a contest, it reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

Hi Sara, My mother was full of cliches and as you know I am just a simple, humble style poet who pens quickly with lots of grammatical errors. I appreciate your comments but I'm really not the competitive type, just in it for the fun with words.

Probably is relatable to most people. I bet the former President wants to tweak his plot right about now as well. Have a wonderful David.

yes, it would be nice to be able to "tweak the plot," nancy, but alas, we don't get to do that. i like your poem...

Hi Ilene, Some parts of this life could use a total re-write, not just a tweak. LOL Hope you and your little ones enjoy the summer months together. I'm enjoying your poetry and applaud your ability to write a poem a day.
