Waiting For Me To Act

Waiting for me to act Is like waiting for the sun to burn out It's going to take years- And even then scientists have doubts About the time in which it'll happen. And to name a day? Impossible. You say the cliff you stand on Has edges too smooth. One wrong move And it's all downhill for you. Well, the cliff I'm straddling Has it's dangers, too. And while you say we're strong enough, My worries are not few. The bleeding wall of fear Stands between us and what could be. But who knows the mind of destiny? It’s a great analogy for this. And if we don’t try to break through it, Who knows what we might miss? You say you must put in the work In order for us to attempt to fly. But you can’t be the only one willing To give this a try. I want to be the one To ride into the dawn. I’ve always wanted the chance, But have never had one to act on. But if you’re waiting for me to make the first move, Then this just might end in a truce Where both of us cease fire And ideas of what could be Become just silly, childish desires. Outside of the realm of writing I’m not much good with words. So if you want to try this, Then we need to make it clear. Otherwise we’ll both be standing On opposite sides of that wall of fear.
