Waiting For a Coffee
I look at my watch and sigh
Want the time to go quickly by
Want to get up out of my bed
Tired of lying here instead
Been awake since half past three
Played some games had a read
Wishing i was at home
To the kitchen i would roam
Kettle on, coffee made
Maybe some toast and marmalade
Paper and pen at the ready
Another poem to write today?
Instead am visiting, so i stay
In my bedroom more games to play
Listening for the rattle of a cup
Thats the signal to get up.
I smile and say "good morning all"
Did i hear my name you call
Was waiting for the "breakfast "shout
Then I will dress and go out
To the shops. I must go
Buy something to halt the thirst
Of early morning wake ups
A bedside kettle tray is first
Then something nice that they collect
Some pottery will do
The name i know they particularly like
Is anything by Lladro
So back i go with presents wrapped
To where I love to stay
They loved the Lladro
Myself the breakfast tray
