Seems for the USA it's O-I-L. WWII might have been the last one fought against atrocities. Congrats on the feature. Vince

Great poem,Abe. Love the way you contrast the vast impersonal nature of war(in 'catastrophic','atrocities','idealism'),with the brevity of the poem itself. Regards, Nick.

civilization is a state of war, brother, they beat babies to make them breathe, and with each new born cry reciprocate with joy. Powerful intuition and write.

Reading this, I can't help but recall the song "War, Good God, y'all, what did you do it for?" How true it is that both sides think they are right, even when war could have been avoided by negotiation. Thought we'd see more of that under Obama -- wrong again. Very compelling accrostic that wastes not one word to drive home its powerful message, Abe. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Love, Carolyn
