At the apex of the pyramid sits the virgin or Madonna whose hand is raised, palm down Over the head of the infant John forming A horizontal line as if completing an invisible cross The child’s right arm raised in benediction gesture Oh, the Mother of grace, the pass is difficult, Hard are these rocks, and the mystifying souls Throng it like echoes, blind throbbing felt Thy name, O Lord, each spirit's voice extols, Peace in the dark avenue things bitter occult +++ **Based on Leonardo da Vinci (1483) - Virgin of the Rocks** January 15, 2015
