This poem is an ancient Irish form called a rannaigheacht ghairid poem.

Freezing rain, muddy earth its sodden drain— bitter tears the winter sheds, liquid threads on window pane. It will pass. Touch the cold, unyielding glass— fingers splayed against the gloom, void of bloom and tender grass. In my mind, violet petals I can find, creeping low, like fragrant thieves— dream that leaves the frost behind.

Phenomenal. A novice like myself could learn a thing or two about how to swoop in and drop a reader into another place. You put me there and I felt my fingers squeak on that window. Sensational!

Gorgeous rendering, Katharine. The last stanza, so endearing: The stuff of which magic memories are made... And to think that when I saw this on your list of poems, I read 'Violent Dreams.' A VERY pleasant surprise was in store for this reader. I thank you! Flowers and fragrance, Gershon
