Velocity
Our minds would be riddled with confusion,
If we did not depend upon illusion.
With our planet spinning at a rate
Yet we think it is a steady state.
That constant stellar glow at night
Flashes at us with the speed of light.
And while the sun shifts through the air
of its speed we are unaware.
What we see from planet earth
Is but a snapshot of stars' birth.
We would feel bewildered and aghast
If we understood our view was of the past.
It feels like it is just the present
Which allows our minds to give assent.
Just think how your mind received a jolt
When in a train carriage at a halt
A sense of motion over you did play
As the train beside you pulled away.
To reality we do seem blind
As nature plays tricks upon our mind.
