Valentines
I love a store with Valentines.
The stuffed ones touch my heart.
There's always one with large sad eyes
spaced lovingly apart.
Their colors warm, they fill my heart.
Their fur as smooth as love.
I often take a second look
in hopes of dreaming of.
Then all is left to check the price.
For fear that it's too much.
To question it and then assess
how many I could touch.
But love seems only meant for two
and I'm alone this year.
I'll have to jilt my many friends
until there's someone dear.
