Urban Lights
Let us gaze for a
while
at the gaudy urban lights
This is what we have come to
in our civilization
The masses move along
in subway cars
While limousines containing the
more fortunate
glide by on city streets
How many sunrises will the
metropolis see before it is turned
to ash or a pillar of salt?
The "atom - powered juggernaut"
is still operating
despite the end of the "Cold War"
Terrorists threaten our very
existence
When they strike
they burst open
the veneer of safety which with
live with
Our darkest fears
Are now the stuff of daily life!
Urban lights
Let us hope and pray
they keep shining
