Up and Down
UP AND DOWN
Playing with my friends in chill air,
Skipping with my sister with a broken teeth,
Jumping with my brother with a broken leg,
Cooking with my mother with a burnt finger,
Climbing a tree with a broken leg,
Chasing with my father for my mischief,
But still, as a child, all I know
Is to forget and re-try.
I have a mind to play with my friends,
I have a leg to jump with my brother,
I have a finger to cook with my mother,
I have a head to climb trees,
But oh! What stops me ??
Alas! I don’t have a heart,
That feels free to be my own.
I wish I were a child again.
