I remember the days when Traffic Lights were obeyed. Green meant Go, Amber ready to stop, Red you stopped and stayed. Now you only do this if a red-light camera they did install. If there is no camera, Green is the only light obeyed by all. Amber, means speed up to miss the red light, Red means hurry through it if no police cars are in sight. Now an unsupervised Stop Sign is much the same. No one round what’s the point? It’s like playing a game. There’s no point in obeying the law if no one is around to see. It’s perfectly obvious these rules weren’t made for everybody. For dishonest people an unsupervised Stop Sign is like saying “Please, Take this car it has no alarm and, in the ignition, here are the keys.” The world is changing, there was a lot less grey than there is today. There was pride in being an honest citizen, that was yesterday. The majority of people were honest, and then there was the crook. Now honest people take liberties when there is no one around to look. Back to our unsupervised Stop Sign placed at an intersection, Maybe we should monitor the stopping that occurs in every direction? Do we have to be watched like children, when out on the road for a drive? Is this what it takes to practice safety, in order to come out alive and survive?
