Unstuck

It’s easy to do nothing And accept things as they stand Or you risk some disappointment If there’s something you have planned. For, though change is often healthy, There’s a chance that you’ll regret it And so, prior to commitment, Many simply say, “Forget it!” If, like me, you can’t move forward, Reach inside and, with some luck, You may find some untapped power, Just enough to get unstuck.

True enough! Over the years I've learned to not get myself stuck with certain projects – like starting a poem but incapable of seeing it to completion. I put it aside and turn to doing something else. It beats sulking in frustration. For the past few weeks I've been working on the translations of two Rilkean poems. They're done now. All that remains is some judicious editing and I ca breathe with some measure of accomplishment! It's a great feeling. / Maurice

This is a good point for all of us. I like this advice.

Enjoyed, Ilene. I’m lucky, I like who I am and I like where I am, so moving, in any direction, seems pointless. Some might say I’m stuck… I’d say, ‘I’m content.’ But for those keen to ‘move it along’, your last verse is right on song. Terry

Being a stick in the mud leaves me time to stop and smell the roses. For some busy people, it’s over before they realized the best place was home. I had been asked, “Do ever get to go away?” I answered, “Actually yes. I’m away right now in a stunning place.,”. “Where are you?”, I was asked. I answered, “I went to Earth, and it’s incredible!”

Love that last line, Hannah…. Almost as though I’d said it myself. Terry
