Unrequited Worship
The profound graceful comfort of your counterfeit warmth,
Engulfs my being for hours of false happiness,
And the craving grows stronger with each descending step.
Extremity after extremity,
Sensation after sensation,
I’m enticed by your illicit scent of deceit,
And each prickle; shiver; tremor;
Brings me closer to your ailing fraudulence.
I do not have authority over this dilemma,
I need it—want it.
Hopelessness and depression do not portray the taste,
The stinging burning covet,
That makes me immobilized, defenseless, and incapable.
