Unproven Promise
Mariana’s depression; oceans deep;
Her inclined thoughts; too bleak, too steep
Her breath whirlpools around life’s mouth
As she sink’s beneath the bosom of mother earth
New life’s dangled on a piece of string
Enticing her like the first day of spring
Beware the hand that gives without a face
Without a name; an unfathomable force, without a trace
Something's feeding off her soul with delight
Something catastrophic from the dark side, maybe a parasite
Something powerful at work here; laid before her, smouldering in an ashtray
As her tears fly and bullets spray; some say, just pray
The world’s scarred; her heart’s marred
Oceans apart, but we insist we’re centred
United as we circle the throat of the abysmal
We finally accept that nothing’s impossible after all
