Unfulfilled Dreams

I believed in fairy tales And happiness ever after; That when I found my prince, we’d live In endless love and laughter. But through no fault of yours, my love, Our idyll soon was ended. Ever and ever, our fond dream, Was not what God intended. If genies granted wishes And fairy tales came true, I’d wish I could be taken back To those sweet years with you, When the future was still ours to live And every day was savored. I’d have no need to envy those Who’ve been more highly favored. Those walking hand in hand to meet Their golden sunset years; Who’d never known this loneliness Nor shed the anguished tears. But fairy tales don’t happen and Time always moves ahead And only in my dreams I live The life I might have led. Won a no. 10

How sad Joyce. I'm giving my wife a hug. She just asked what got into me.
