Unenlightened

Why does the sun only come out by day It would have been different if I’d had my way Why does the moon shine so dimly at night While the sun gets to shine when it’s already light Even on hot days the sun still shines strong It just seems to me that it’s all kinda wrong And when nights are chilly and dark, tell me why We can’t have the sun shining up in the sky So maybe the sun could glow dusk until dawn A nice moonlit night be a nice moonlit morn I reckon the world would be just about right If the moon glowed by day and the sun glowed at night

You just have to change the meaning of a few words to get your wish. There's a lot of that going on these days. Very clever my friend. Have a great day.

I posted this wondering if anyone would spot the irony, that if nights were light, we’d call them day… from the comments… I’m not sure one way or the other. ;-) Terry

The shape the world's in now, sunlit nights would fit right in! :) Funny poem!

Thanks, Ann. I guess if nights were light… we’d call them ‘day’. ;-)

Well technically the sun does shine all night long, on or above the Arctic Circle this time of year Terry, so perhaps it’s time to pack up your belongings and move to Svalbard, mind you in winter it never shines up there at all, enlightenment is a bitch lol, cheers David

Sheesh! There’s always one… Ha ha! Annie once asked me if the sun was warm…. I guessed at something like 40 zillion degrees! ;-)

If the moon beamed by day and the sun glowed at night, it would be a topsy-turvy world alright. If we worked through the dark and slept when it’s light what would life be like. A thought provoking poem Terry, a most entertaining read… Belle

Thank you, Belle. I suspect we would simply switch our rota ;-) Terry

You've flooded my mind with questions, Terry. The 'whys' are best answered by the One who created the sun, the moon, and us, but He owes no one an explanation. Of your lines, the one that gave me pause was the one that read, "the sun gets to shine when it’s already light."

Thanks, Lin. This was written in the same spirit as ‘Poor Jesus being born on Christmas Day and only getting one lot of presents’. If days were dark and nights were light… we’d still call the dark bit ‘night’ and the light bit ‘day’. ;-)
