Unemotional

Life, Long live Husband, Wife. In a black hole, Silent partnership.., Handicapped; deaf and mute. Sexuality shriveled, Ludicrous life without laughter. Deep-rooted with only air to share... Choosing to live unemotionally. Susan Ashley July 15, 2017

You have described a Siberian wasteland of a marriage. "Deep-rooted with only air to share", wow. Powerful use of your pen to describe a heartbreaking scenario. No emotions = no thriving, just surviving. ~ John

Indeed! I love how you artfully summed it up at the end of your insightful comments, John. How sad a situation like this is. No love = no fire, just ire.. I think your pithy summation is way better, my dear friend :)) Thank you for your cherished thoughts on my very early work. Warmest wishes to you.. ~Susan

Hi Susan, so many times this is the norm'. In so many homes this is the way of life, how sad is that? Emotion always brings life with it. To live without emotion would be a destroyer for me. Your words are so true and well delivered in this Etheree form. I love the content of this write. Your talent came through so early Susan. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Hugs....Mike. XX

My dear friend, I truly appreciate your time spent with one of my earlier poems presented here on PS and your heartfelt comments are so uplifting. I agree, that to live without passionate emotions would be a destroyer for me as well, Mike. Thank you for the elation of receiving your sincere sentiments, my wonderful friend. Warmest wishes and have a lovely Wednesday.. ~Susan

"Sexuality shriveled" What a line - very interesting piece of work describing a relationship that has lost its emotional heat. It takes two to tango as they say. "a ludicrous life without laughter" sounds like the worst! If you cant laugh about it, where's the fun at? Nice one to ponder today Susan - well done indeed. Always, Laura

Your presence is inspiring and uplifting, Laura. I truly relish your insightful review of my poem. Indeed, if you can't laugh, what's the point? I would suffocate in a sour static-cling situation like this.. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

Hi Susan, you aptly describe this situation as it is, shriveled & without emotions. Could be a choice based on several factors, but I doubt if the end result justifies it. No home...just a cold love in a cold house! ~ Warm regards // paul

Thank you for your wonderful feedback Paul. I agree with your sentiments, a cold emotional climate cannot grow warm feelings of blossoming love.. Your presence is always a delight my friend and I appreciate your uplifting support and friendship. Warmest wishes always ~Susan

I know this dilemma first hand, as well as it's multi-leveled struggle. In the end, I'm not a stayer, authenticity means too much to me - you learn about yourself thru this particular trial (well, all trials). Some stay out of fear, some say because of faith. I think a lot of poets have written about this topic and I think your etheree delivered the scenario in a first rate way. Sadly, it could be called, "In Houses Across America." That's not funny, is it? All the best ... CayCay

CayCay, I agree with what you say that my poem could be called 'In Houses Across America'. It is sad because the general perception is to think of 'home' as loving safe havens but often times, the stone-cold people in these homes are asking 'Where is the love'..? but they stay and stay and stay. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.. Warmest wishes ~Susan
