Unbearable Beauty In White
I hold your hand and wipe a tear from your cheek.
They tell me that you've done better this week.
You look into my eyes and I'm unknown -
I smile then and shed a tear of my own.
Think back, think back, love, to when we were young.
To long ago before our songs were sung.
The drive in movies we'd pretend to see -
Nothing else mattered except you and me.
Remember my old Ford of fifty two....
The drives we took and dreams of what we'd do,
The plans we made and wished with all our might,
Then came our day,you walked that aisle in White.
There never was beauty like that before.
An angel in white with lips I adore.
Beauty that has lasted all of my life,
And brought me great joy to call you my wife.
Now I am old and you have gone away -
I know not where you are or what to say.
Though I cannot connect, try as I might -
I'll always see you walk that aisle in white.
