Ultimate Love

Though from dust I am made you gave me a name Branded with a soul and washed in your blood A precious gift given to guard and preserve A token of the King's genuine love and affection Then you sent me away to fulfill your purpose Be a crutch to others as we journey for a time My prayer, I will not fail as nagging distractions grow And may I not be the cause of another’s deadly fall I have weaknesses and some childish ways, still Sometimes I get lost and my guilt-ridden heart is sad Then your spirit reminds me, this journey’s not about me The reason I exist today is solely to love, as you have willed So when dark whispers come, that I’ll never please you I smile and rejoice because I know who you are! Let me bring love all my days; wherever there’s hate As you are ultimate love, may I too, come to be! ~*~ For John Freeman's "Praises of Life Precept PRIOR Cause, or Your God" Contest

Wow! this is truly beautiful! Great poem! I see you have been busy with your writing. I was starting to question myself as a poet because I began to write my first novel a few months ago and have been putting all that I have into it. My latest poem, which you so kindly commented on, was more of a test for myself. One day I'll find that special someone who flatters my pen! Thank you for your continued encouragement!!

How right you are, Annalise. The journey is not about us, it is about learning to spread love and happiness to others. John will LOVE this precept poem as much as I do. Surely a winner. Love you, dear. Carolyn
