Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Two steps forward, one step back, Grateful just to be on track. Goodness knows the price of that, Two steps forward, one step back. Always hanging by a thread, Pushing to the very edge, Fighting demons in my head, Always hanging by a thread. Little changes day by day, Struggling just to play the game, Some would quit, but I will stay, For little changes day by day. What a rotten hand of cards, Never know quite where to start, And at times I fall apart, What a rotten hand of cards. But what’s the difference if it’s fair, Life will catch you unaware, Why then is there need to care, What’s the difference if it’s fair. Doesn’t matter how it looks, Winners get to write the books, And what if trying’s all it took, Doesn’t matter how it looks. Choose to live for those you love, When the road is long and tough, And alone is not enough, Choose to live for those you love. Just keep at it, you will see, Sometimes things are meant to be, Let your mind and soul be free, Just keep at it, you will see. Two steps forward, one step back, Turn to look at where I’m at, Reached the summit, changed the facts, With two steps forward, one step back.
