Two Poems
Those first two poems set me on a
course I'd never been, and sent me on
a journey that has taken me far above and beyond.
Both of those poems flowed like a river,
a river uninhibited, pure, and free. It was
my first attempt at writing poetry. That poem
had very little thought but was all heart and soul.
A friend was on the verge of a divorce,
and I wrote a poem to save his marriage.
I was speechless when he called me a poet.
I treasure the poem, but he was divorced.
A friend's sister was on her deathbed,
and I felt words forming in my heart and
soul; words as if being spoken by the dying
sister; words that became my second poem and
given to my friend's family. Indeed, it was a most
treasured poem among hundreds that followed.
